Exciting news…..we have opened another store in Yarragon called “Campbell Street Emporium”. We have teamed together with another three artists and we are stocking Nickelby Designs in the wonderful space. It is open six days (closed Tuesday) 10-4 and Sunday 11-4. So now you have two places to shop!
STOP PRESS: We are no longer offering food so our café part of the business is now closed. We are back to being a shop and designer studio and doing what we love to do and that is create wonderful unique garments whilst also stocking the best of the commercial alpaca garments as well.
What is it like to wear alpaca? Nothing in this world compares.
Garments made from alpaca cannot be surpassed when it comes to comfort and wearability. Softer, lighter, warmer than wool and it doesn't prickle. What is not to love.
Come and visit Nickelby At Darnum when you are next in wonderful West Gippsland or if you are unable to visit then have a browse through our online shop however not everything is up for sale online. If you do visit why not bring your friends, come and enjoy all that our region has to offer here in West Gippsland, literally, from some suburbs, only 1 hour from Melbourne and no traffic lights! We are easy to find, Darnum is between Warragul and Yarragon on the Princes Highway and we are just 3km off the highway with sealed roads. Feel free to just pop in and have a look around on any day we are open. Or remember, if you haven’t got time to stop in Darnum then make time to stop in Yarragon and visit our store the Campbell Street Emporium - just turn right at the lolly shop and we are opposite the supermarket.
We look forward to seeing you soon at one of our stores
In early 2016 Angela travelled to Japan to learn SAORI Weaving. SAORI Weaving is freeform weaving where you live in a world where there are no mistakes, no patterns, no structure, just weave what comes, what inspires you on the day. Angela works mainly in alpaca and often dyes her own yarns and so this, along with the freeform nature of the weaving means that every piece is unique, a one off piece of artwork that has spoken to Angela throughout the process.
In November 2018 Angela attended the world’s largest Eco Fashion shows; Eco Fashion Week Australia in Port Douglas and in Freemantle. Nickelby Designs had 12 outfits on the runway in their own show and received great press coverage around the world. It is becoming the “done thing” to have a Nickelby Design piece and now people all around the world are wearing the designs and the following is growing.
