What is it like to wear alpaca? Nothing in this world compares.
Garments made from alpaca cannot be surpassed when it comes to comfort and wearability. Softer, lighter, warmer than wool and it doesn't prickle. What is not to love.
Come and visit Nickelby At Darnum or if you can't then have a browse through our online shop however not everything is up for sale online but we try. If you do visit why not bring your friends, book in for a lunch, come and enjoy all that our region has to offer here in West Gippsland, literally, from some suburbs, only 1 hour from Melbourne and no traffic lights! We are easy to find, Darnum is between Warragul and Yarragon on the Princes Highway and we are just 3km off the highway with sealed roads so very easy.
we look forward to seeing you soon
In early 2016 Angela travelled to Japan to learn SAORI Weaving. SAORI Weaving is freeform weaving where you live in a world where there are no mistakes, no patterns, no structure, just weave what comes, what inspires you on the day. Angela works mainly in alpaca and often dyes her own yarns and so this, along with the freeform nature of the weaving means that every piece is unique, a one off piece of artwork that has spoken to Angela throughout the process. Whilst weaving is the main event, Angela also knits and crochets her way through her days but again she designs her own patterns and even then often deviates so it is rare she will remember exactly what she has done. Angela shares her world via her blogs so pop on over and read the latest happenings in the studio and on the farm
Ladies Who Lunch
Stressed? It is your turn to organise the next lunch with the girls? You want somewhere different? Don't want to drive too far but you have "done" all the places in town. Well how about coming to Nickelby At Darnum and bring with you up to 9 friends.(we can squeeze in you and 11 if you keep your elbows tucked in!)
Imagine.... you arrive and are handed a glass of Gippsland bubbles and while you wait for your friends to arrive you say hello to Miss Patsy, our cuddliest alpaca. Then when your friends arrive you sit down to enjoy a platter of local produce from Gippsland's famous cheese to Noojee Alpine Trout, with Gippsland wine at the table* (did we mention that could be inside on our big table in the shop or outside soaking up our beautiful views) followed by coffee and home made cake. Our coffee is Swig Coffee - Gippsland's most awarded coffee.
During your leisurely lunch you can browse the shop, quiz Angela on her work, chat to an alpaca or meander through the olive grove or just sit and chat. Any purchases on that day receive a 10% discount. Need to update your wardrobe? Then lunch is practically free!
If you don't have to rush off we can organise a trip to a local artist's studio, Lynne Bickoff who features regularly in the Hawthorn Gallery or perhaps a visit to the world renowned Town & Country Gallery in Yarragon where Jo will talk to you about their Australian artists.
